Happy Feet

Did you know that some students are arriving at school with duct tape holding their shoes together? Others are wearing plastic toy princess shoes because they have no other options, while some are stuck in their father’s oversized work boots. Counselors in Denison ISD brought these situations to the attention of the Junior League of Grayson County, highlighting how children are affected by their families’ financial struggles. This lack of properly fitting shoes sometimes prevents them from participating in school activities. To address this issue, the Junior League launched the “Happy Feet” program, which provides shoes to children who cannot afford them. In its inaugural year during the 2023-2024 school year, the League successfully supplied 132 pairs of shoes to students in Denison ISD. In July 2024, Bells ISD (BISD) and the Child and Family Guidance Center of Texoma (CFGC) were also included in the initiative. This year, we aim to provide at least 400 pairs of shoes to children in need. With your support, we hope to reach our goal and make a meaningful impact on these young lives.
